About Me
Meet Your Teacher: Tima Volozh
I'm a Russian-born, New York–based drummer and bandleader with a Master of Music in Jazz Studies from New York University. I've taught at schools including the Nutley School of Music, Joe's Academy of Music, and the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music.
In our lessons, I help students develop the skills, technique, and musical awareness they need to play the music they truly want to play. We focus on how technique, rhythm, coordination and form work, so you can feel more confident, musical, and free behind the drums.
Students of all levels are welcome. Whether your goal is to improve your time feel, learn songs by ear, read charts, develop independence and coordination, explore specific grooves or styles, or grow as a band member and improviser, we'll work together to help you become the musician you want to be — and to discover more joy in both playing and listening to music.
